MI-Journey operates with a simple set of rules based on respect for each other and maintaining the peace and serenity of the drop-in center. The rules apply to all members, volunteers, visitors, and staff.
Rules:

No Alcohol or Street Drugs (In You or On You)

No Weapons

No Rude, Obnoxious or Threatening Remarks, Behavior or Actions (sexual and racial comments)

No Bumming Cigarettes or Money

No Abuse of the Center or Other Members, Visitors or Staff

Dress Appropriately (No shorts-shorts, revealing clothing, etc.)

No Gossiping about Others

No Discussion of Religion, Politics, Alcohol or Drugs

*We believe in the freedom of speech, but these topics tend to be sensitive to people and should be avoided as public topics of discussion.

DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES
Should a member break any of the above rules, MI-Journey staff should invoke the following disciplinary procedures:

1st Offense: A verbal warning will be given to the individual to bring his or her behavior to his or her attention and a copy of these Policies & Procedures will be given.

2nd Offense: Director will follow up with a written warning stating the offense and the duration of the suspension.
*If the situation warrants, the above procedures may be disregarded to protect the safety and serenity of the center. It is within the Director's discretion to determine what level of disciplinary action shall be invoked at any given time.
APPEAL AND GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES
Individuals may appeal any disciplinary action to the Director, by arranging a meeting with the Director and an advocate, if desired (case manager, etc.). It is the individual's responsibility to arrange such a meeting to select an individual to be his or her advocate.
If the individual wishes to further appeal the Director's decision, he or she may appeal in writing to the Board of
Directors may appear before the board at the meeting under the public comment section. The Board will address the appeal at the next scheduled meeting.
